Where coal ends, climate action begins.

At ReGenEarth, the end of extraction marks the beginning of regeneration, with carbon sequestration at the core.

From coal to carbon capture: Reclaiming the Earth, one mine at a time.

What was once a source of emissions is now a foundation for climate recovery, ReGenEarth is transforming disused coal mines into powerful carbon sequestration sites.

Keeping coal reserves in the ground before they are ever mined or burned.

Now that’s Power with Purpose.

At ReGenEarth, our mission is to drive meaningful climate action by transforming former open cast coal mines into regenerative landscapes that support a low-carbon future. We are committed to mitigating climate change through the permanent sequestration of carbon dioxide (CO₂) and the replacement of high-emission energy sources with zero-emission renewable energy systems.

Our work goes beyond environmental restoration. We aim to enhance energy autonomy and security, improve local energy independence and empower business, people and the surrounding community through long-term engagement and collaboration.

By integrating carbon capture, renewable energy and ecological regeneration, ReGenEarth is creating a scalable model for turning industrial legacy sites into assets for climate resilience and sustainable development.

We believe that where extraction ends, regeneration begins.

Carbon captured. Land reclaimed. Future restored.

Working in partnership with…

ReGenEarth, in partnership with Carbon Reduction Resources (CRR), is pioneering this initiative, closing open cast coal mines and transforming them into carbon sequestration hubs.

Together, we are committed to tackling climate change by capturing and storing carbon dioxide (CO₂), restoring degraded landscapes and replacing high-emission energy sources with clean, renewable alternatives. This collaboration enhances energy security, supports local resilience, and sets a new standard for regenerative land use in the fight against climate change.

Engineering Carbon Offset Credits

Under the independent oversight of a trusted carbon credit protocol, the permanent sequestration of coal reserves has been validated by ORBEX, an environmental verification body and is currently undergoing rating by BeZero Carbon, a leading carbon rating agency as a high-quality, engineered carbon offset credit.

These credits represent the avoidance of coal combustion and the associated carbon emissions, along with the permanent removal of thermal coal reserves that would otherwise be mined and used for power generation or steel production. This approach ensures measurable, long-term climate mitigation by keeping fossil fuel reserves securely underground.

As part of this commitment, the owner has legally agreed to use proceeds from carbon credit revenues responsibly, refraining from reinvesting in coal mining operations or acquiring active mines for production. Instead, a portion of the revenues will be allocated toward acquiring additional operating mines for similar sequestration projects, advancing global carbon reduction efforts.

In accordance with the carbon credit protocol, revenue generated from credit sales will also fund the reclamation and environmental restoration of the closed mine sites, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and facilitating a transition towards renewable energy and sustainable land use.

This initiative demonstrates a scalable and responsible model for managing legacy fossil fuel assets while generating high-integrity carbon offset credits that support global climate goals.

The benefits of mine reclamation

Climate action & carbon sequestration

Closing coal mines stops emissions at the source and enables the land to be used for carbon dioxide (CO₂) capture and storage, contributing directly to climate change mitigation.

Soil life

Environmental restoration

Mine closure allows for the rehabilitation of ecosystems, improvement of biodiversity, and the removal of long-term land and water pollution caused by mining activity.

Clean energy transition

Clean energy transition

Former mining sites can be repurposed for zero-emission renewable energy projects, helping replace fossil fuels and supporting energy independence.

Community & economic renewal

Community & economic renewal

Closure initiatives create opportunities for green jobs, improve public health, and revitalise communities previously impacted by industrial activity.
