At Hope Farm in Sedgefield, home to a large Arla dairy farm, good progress is being made on ReGenEarth’s latest biochar facility.
Following the installation of site infrastructure at the end of last year, the concrete base and main building structure are now complete, marking an important step forward in bringing the project to life.
Preparing for the next phase
The next stage will see the installation of a cutting-edge biochar production unit, which will work alongside the existing anaerobic digestion (AD) plant already operating at the farm.
By integrating biochar production with the farm’s current energy and waste systems, the project will create a practical example of circular farming in action, turning organic material into biochar, a stable form of carbon that can support soil health while locking carbon away for the long term.
A natural fit for the farm
Locating the facility at Hope Farm allows the system to work directly alongside existing agricultural operations, helping to maximise the value of on-site resources while supporting more sustainable farming practices.
Once installed and commissioned, the biochar unit will form an important part of ReGenEarth’s growing portfolio of projects focused on carbon removal, circular infrastructure and practical climate solutions.
As work continues over the coming months, the Sedgefield site will become another example of how innovative technologies can be integrated into real-world environments, delivering environmental benefits while supporting productive farms and rural communities.
